🚨 Kimi K3 has apparently reduced China’s AI gap to just a few months
LuminaXspace
Chinese open models are no longer six to nine months behind the American frontier.
The estimated gap is now much closer possibly just two or three months behind.
Kimi K3 appears to be the first to start that reassessment:
• Competitive performance against leading closed models • Rapid improvements in coding and agentic tasks • Considerably lower deployment costs • A release cycle moving faster than many expected
This still remains an estimate, but it's cool how fast AI development is speeding up.
I also like the shift to efficiency and making models cheap but still incredibly impressive, do you think the Chinese models will eventually become level with western models and what is your timeline on that?
