Satya Nadella has taken a swipe at frontier AI labs over model distillation:

• AI companies models are trained on huge amounts of public internet data • Those same labs now want to stop rivals learning from their outputs • Anthropic recently accused Alibaba of extracting millions of Claude responses • Nadella argued companies should control their own data and infrastructure

AI companies scraped the internet and called it innovation.

Now someone is scraping them, and suddenly it is theft.
